Waterloo two-sport star Thangaraj considering schools locally and abroad

Attending Waterloo Collegiate Institute Vikings, wide receiver Jeyan Thangaraj has proven himself to be an outstanding young man both on the field, and in the classroom. As a member of the high school’s football and rugby teams he has emerged as a star in each. On the football field he helped the Vikings earn a WCSSAA A championship in 2010 and a WSSAA B championship in 2011. Playing for the rugby team he has earned two MVP awards and was selected as a league first team all-star.

“Rugby is my favourite sport and my best,” said Thangaraj.

Not only an extremely talented athlete, Jeyan is also a proficient student with his academic future in mind. The post secondary schools that he is applying to reflect his passion to maintain a challenging academic future after he graduates in 2013.

“I am applying to McGill, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, Stanford, Harvard, Dartmouth, Penn, State, Columbia and Cornell,” he said.

Playing two sports at such a high level of talent while maintaining academic excellence is no easy task for a young man; Jeyan prides his older brother Parthan as being an excellent role model in his life.
