Meet our blogger of the month, Kish Raveendran of KishStyle, an up and coming Toronto stylist with a growing clientele and social media following.
The youngest and only male in a family of 5 kids, Kish always had an interest in dressing up. As his family moved around from Sri Lanka to places like Oman, France and finally Canada – he was influenced by what he saw around him. The 5 years spent in France, really helped to define Kish’s style.
At the age of 17 the family moved to Canada, and he quickly realized that the European fashion trends did not flow over to North America. It was the time of the baggy pants and big t-shirts and hats. So going with the local trends, Kish also modified his European style to match that of the Canadian trends, but not for too long. Once Kish completed his college degree for the Police foundation (out of pressure to do something practical), he realized fashion was his passion!
In 2007, he attended a fashion show in Montreal, where several people approached him and complimented him on his style. That was when it all changed for Kish. He was approached by Miami Fashion week producer, Jean Alexander, and from there on travelled to Miami and participated in the show. In 2008 he was approached by a New York Fashion week designer to model for his swim wear line T-Christopher. This led to additional modeling gigs through Sutherland Models and a growing network of individuals in the fashion industry. After much encouragement from friends, fans and family members, Kish launched his own clothing line in 2013. You can find his showroom at Bloor and Dundas in Toronto.
