The topic of skin-whitening and the promotion of lighter skin is also a very relevant and ongoing issue in the South Asian community. While there have been tremendous efforts from the community to address these issues through documentaries like “Shadeism” and countless articles (some links below), we still have a long way to go before discrimination against those of darker skin is completely removed, and ads like Secret Seoul’s are a blatant reminder of that.
