When it comes to Tamil entertainment, Kollywood is king. The South Indian film industry alone is estimated to be worth $428 million (2013 KPMG report). Given the financial resources and the concentration of creative talent in the region, it’s no surprise that they have such a mass following and influence on Tamils around the world. But lately, there has been an increase in the volume and quality of entertainment created by Tamils from the western diaspora.
