You usually hear these types of stories in the movies. Priyanka Kugamoorthy, a 23-year-old medical student from Toronto, had the pleasure of completing an observership with the doctor who saved her mother’s life over two decades ago, when she was pregnant with Priyanka.

Priyanka Kugamoorthy, now a 23-year-old med student, was inspired to observe cardiologist Dr. Jack Colman at work after years of hearing her mother’s stories about the time Colman saved her life.
Priyanka, of course, can’t remember the 1991 balloon valvuloplasty that inflated her mother’s narrowing pulmonary valve relieving the strain on her heart and pregnancy. She hadn’t been born yet.
