1. Suriya and Jyothika
This couple first met while filming for Vasanth’s “Poovellam Kettuppar” (1999), but it wasn’t until one film later, while working on Gautham Menon’s “Kaakha Kaakha”, that they fell in love. After “Kaakha Kaakha”, Suriya and Jyothika starred in four other films together: “Perazhagan”, “Maayavi”, “June R” (Suriya in a cameo appearance), and “Sillunu Oru Kadhal”. The couple got married on September 11, 2006 and have two children together.
When Times of India reporter, Srinivas Ramanujan, asked Jyothika about her love story, she said “Actually, we never knew when we fell in love…It just happened over the years.” She also said, “He was always there for me and I found that quality very attractive. I believe that the most beautiful feeling in life is to fall in love. It makes you grow, it makes you responsible. If you haven’t been in love, you just haven’t lived.”

2. Ajith and Shalini
This couple met on the sets of Amarkalam (1999), and this is where their love story began. Although not much is known about the details of how they fell in love, the rumour mills never fail to give us an interesting story. The best one I heard was that, while filming the scene where Ajith’s character tries to get a film reel back from Shalini’s character, Ajith accidentally cut Shalini’s arm in real life. He felt really guilty and would constantly check up on her and that was how it all began.
They got married on April 24th, 2000 and have one daughter together. Since the wedding, Shalini has retired as an actress and focuses on her family and her love for badminton.
3. Sneha and Prasanna
Unlike our other favourite jodis, Sneha and Prasanna met while working on an ad for Aashirvaad. Later they both started working on Arun Vaidyanathan’s “Achchamundu! Achchamundu!” (2009). Although Prasanna always admired Sneha as an actress, he says that he loves Suhasini, as a person, even more. After forming a strong friendship, while working on the film, their friendship developed into love. While promoting the Engeyum Eppodhum Raja concert in Toronto, Prasanna said that the both of them also bonded over Ilaiyaraja’s music.
After working on the film together, Sneha noticed Prasanna’s respected behaviour towards women and that is one of the reasons, she says, she fell for him. She also says that she likes his approach towards his profession; “he doesn’t consider himself a hero, but rather an actor and he puts his best into all of his performances”, she said.
The couple got married on May 11th, 2012. When asked about their relationship after marriage, Sneha says that he is still her lover. “More than being a husband and wife, we are still boyfriend and girlfriend, and best friends. Our friendship is magic,” said Prasanna.
