Awkwardness, it can help you form that quirky bond with a bestie, or it can make that potential relationship run away from you. It has disturbed many friendships, and possibly made you single for far too long.
So, you’re awkward.
Growing up it could have been the worst nightmare for you, trying to fit in with the social norms and the cliques. Even with these obstacles arising from being awkward, it actually aids you.
1. Your Awkwardness can be Hilarious
You may have been the awkward one growing up, rejected as a prom date even. But after you hit your 20’s , you may seem awkward to one person, but cute and hilarious to so many more. It’s better than being a bore , right?
So awkward is a term used negatively for unique and interesting people, people who are not boring. Being different is key to getting ahead in life and being happy, don’t let the word ” awkward” bring you down. Own it!
2. Your Awkwardness leads to Spontaneity
You could be the most awkward dancer, but at the end of the night with everyone staring at you, you are the one that had the most fun, shaking all you’ve got, all night long. Being awkward teaches you to not care what others think about you and gives you a sense of independence.
Probably interrupted someones epic dance battle, or stepped on their toes, or even talked about your puppy a bit too much in one conversation. BUT, a big but , is that you had FUN doing all that and even more. It doesn’t affect you as much because you are happy.
3. You’re the expert on overcoming Embarrassing situations
You know 100% what it feels like to be embarrassed in public, so you are the go to person to relate to once it happens to a not so awkward friend. You understand what it feels like, and how it makes you never want to set foot in public EVER again. But not for long.
So when you see that your friend has toilet paper stuck to her shoe, or a friend messed up their makeup, you totally understand their situation and help them overcome it.
4. You have great Friends and lot’s of Stories
Real friends are hard to come by, trust me on this one, but being your fun awkward self, you tend to attract better friends, who love you for you and not just as a way to be popular or climb that social ladder.
They have seen you at your worst, and still love you. They see your humour , sometimes painful for sure, but they always tend to have a great time with you, at times testing their popularity streak.
One thing about being awesomely awkward is the stories you will have to share with people you meet, friends and family. Best way to make someone laugh and network too!
Weird things happen to the weird ones – don’t be embarrassed to share your stories with others, as it may be the highlight of their day, the funny story that is.
You may not be the popular one, or even the prettiest one, but you can engage an audience with your storytelling, about how you flirted with the cute DJ at an event, but he totally ignored you in front of a crowd.
Bummer.
