Vasugi Kailasam is a final year PhD student at the Department of English Literature at National University of Singapore (NUS). Her research looks at Sri Lankan English and Tamil literature written in the time period between 2000 – 2009. Under the NUS Tamil Language Society, she was the vice chairperson of the inaugural World Tamil University Youth Conference ( WTUYC 2012). From September 2013, Vasugi has been a part of a educational venture called “Critique”. Critique is a Singapore based education services company that crafts and conducts workshops that aim to discuss the evolving identity issues of Tamil-speaking youth. At the heart of its mission is promoting critical thinking and encouraging inclusive conversations that pique the interest in analyzing contemporary Tamil identity.
